SHIITAKE PIZZA REVIEW

Warning: This article may induce hunger. Mellow Mushroom makes some good pizzas. My wife likes their spinach dip.

Waitr, a great restaurant delivery app like Doordash, Grubhub, or Uber Eats (in alphabetical order) keeps sending me free delivery codes. I sort of feel like I’m taking advantage, but… sorta don’t too. I don’t reckon it’s a mistake, but I’ll just have you know dear reader, that I’m jeopardizing that sweet deal by writing this. Okay, enough nonsense.

Mellow Mushroom’s Buffalo Chicken pizza is usually my go-to when I order from them, but earlier in the day I’d been reading about the Silk Road. Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the secretive site helped get it started by selling “magic mushrooms.” So, being someone who enjoys doing things for the heck of it, I ordered mellow Mushroom’s Holy Shiitake pizza (a totally different kind of mushroom btw) JUST wanted to be clear on that.

In Japan they have a dish called Nametake. I like it, and eating mushrooms, but wondered if I’d like this pizza. It was actually a lot better than I guessed it would be. The texture is very similar to meat, so I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything. lol I don’t think I’ve ever had truffles, but part of the ingredients was a truffle oil which tasted good. The caramelized onions, and garlic was great too.

Just for reference, an entire pizza has less calories than a quarter pounder meal at McDonalds, so that’s good. Anyway, if you’re taste buds are anything like mine it’s a good pizza. If you don’t like mushrooms then you’ll definitely want to pick something else. I’m actually considering now, purchasing some truffle oil for cooking, but just haven’t come up with an idea yet of what to use it in. Feel free to drop an idea if you like, and I hope this article was somehow helpful.
