Social Distancing From God
One of the main points of the book of Exodus was to show the Israelites, and us, that regardless of man’s abilities to provide for himself, ultimately, we are dependent on God for life. God led them into directions where they could not provide for themselves, so He would have to. It’s a humbling proposition that many take offense to, and many today are unwilling to acknowledge the providential hand of God in their life.
“They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.”
Like pharaoh we try to make convenient excuses, so we can sleep with the frogs, one more night, instead of risking surrendering to Gods will. We can’t bare the idea of not being in control. We lust for power to ourselves because we want to be a god to ourself. We want others to recognize our will and bend to our will, not God’s will.It’s a hideous state of
Affairs, and very short sightedness.
Part of the reason I even write this is in consideration of our current society and how we’ve labored over thousands of years to get to the point where we are, but it all just seems to be for the goal of satiating our own lusts. In the last days “men will be lovers of themselves… because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold….” It will be like the days of Noah shortly before the flood, where the imagination of man was upon evil continually, and God repented Himself that He had made man.
Like Israel in the wilderness, when their needs were provided for they “rose up to play,” and not to worship God. Their desire was to themselves. It was all about their purposes and not God’s purpose.
If He really is the God of the universe, He is worth worshiping. You can’t spare a few minutes for Someone you owe so much? “He maketh the sun to shine on the just and the unjust.”
Man naturally doesn’t want to worship God. That takes away from his own self glory. Man tries to set himself up where he doesn’t need God. He wants to be self-sustainable, but we’re broken. Man wants to hold God at arm’s length or push Him away, and He wants to embrace you.
You can’t get away from God dear reader, “it is appointed unto men once to die and after this the judgement.” I suggest that you do business with Him, on His terms, sooner rather than later, on yours. Deal with God according to His righteousness, and pardon for sin, and not according to your own righteousness.
“If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Come and let us reason together saith the Lord, though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow. Though they be red like crimson they shall be white as wool.”
I don’t know if this analogy would be helpful, but imagine at birth that you owed God a trillion dollars. But imagine God wanted to forgive your debt, and told you that as long as you ask for debt forgiveness before your time runs out it’s fine but after that you’d just have to pay. And imagine you were hard headed and wanted to try to earn enough to make up the difference. Whenever you died you might be able to say “I paid more than most,” or “I paid the most of anyone” but you certainly wouldn’t have earned enough to pay a trillion dollars’ worth of debt off. Our government can’t even seem to do that.
Whenever you gave an account to God He might be like “Well, I tried to let you be forgiven on my terms but you kept demanding your own terms, so now you have them… Depart from me ye workers of iniquity. I never knew you.” You’d have to spend eternity trying to pay off a debt that’s already been paid for you, by The Lord Jesus Christ.

Only reason I even mention that is to testify that it’s a good life, and better life than you might imagine. I don’t have any needs in my life that God hasn’t met. I have peace with God.
Now you’re either gonna do life God’s way or your way, so I’ll leave you with a few last verses from the book of Revelation:
“He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”
Even so, come Lord Jesus.
