Two Problems With Quora

Job Access With Speech, most commonly known as JAWS, is the most popular screen reader for Windows. Here are two problems I’m getting while using Quora:

1 Many of the links in emails don’t take me to the actual question I clicked on to read about. This isn’t a screen reader problem, but is more common so I just wanted to send a gentle nudge about it.

2 Replying on comments does not work

Ok, so now the whole reason I wrote this article. I get emails that people comment on my answers. I go to the link provided. I click reply on the comment the person left. It says “Leave a reply edit.” I can type into the edit field. Great so far.

The two problems are –

1 I can’t read what I’ve typed into the edit field that pops up.

2 I cannot find a reply button or submit button (whatever tells the page to post and update the reply)

3 I’ve tried turning off the virtual cursor and tabbing or shift tabbing to reach any of the expected elements but cannot find them no matter what I do.

Most everything else on Quora works seamlessly, to me at least, so I hope this isn’t much of a headache. I like Quora and being able to offer advice to people asking questions. I don’t think my opinion is better than anyone else I just like trying to help people.

I’ve taught the screen readers JAWS and Voiceover for iPhone since 2018 and have to be certified with JAWS every year. If I can be of future assistance, or help with Quora as an accessibility tester, feel free to reach out to me on Upwork here. Thanks for all you do and for making Quora a great site.
